CNC Bevel Operator I- Grave 

We are currently recruiting for a CNC Bevel Operator I to join the Benchmade Knife Company team. The CNC Bevel Operator is responsible for choosing correct fixtures, programs and wheels, setting up the grinder plus maintaining part tolerance once machine is set up.

This role also keeps coolant and water mixture within daily specification; dry and deburr parts. In addition, the operator will shut down and clean machines, change wheels and clean wheel flanges as needed. The CNC Bevel Operator will also perform daily and weekly maintenance, as well as read Process Control Instructions (PCI) and job travelers for product/operation specifications and use micrometers to ensure quality specifications are met.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform visual inspection of parts ensuring cosmetic requirements are met.
• Inspect manufactured parts to a PCI and identify dimensional quality issues.
• Consistently meet production and quality requirements.
• Follow standard operating procedures and communicating when process or parts are out of specifications
• Ensure all parts produced and passed along meet identified specifications and problem solve when deviations occur
• Use standard procedures as baseline to drive continuous improvement
• Take ownership of area, ensuring cleanliness and organization standards are met or exceeded
• Read and understand all associated program codes, making necessary offsets and adjustments to produce parts within defined specifications
• Verify coolant level is within specifications with refractometer at beginning of shift; correct as instructed.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work area.
• Complete all necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

• A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and 1-2 years of experience in CNC manufacturing in a fast-paced production environment is required. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered.
• Experience in use and selection of proper inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, refractometer).
• Strong communication and problem solving capability to understand when results were not as expected and determining potential causes for the deviation
• Emphasis on quality, ensuring all parts meet identified specifications and communicating when parts deviate from standard and understand why the deviation occurred. Ability to work both independently with limited supervision, and in a collaborative team environment.
